Zandvoorts Museum: Portraits with Pride 2022

Published on 9 June 2022 at 07:00

This year the Zandvoorts Museum presents an exhibition in the theme of the rainbow community. This year the group exhibition in the 2022 edition of Zandvoort Pride will present a sellection of portraits. Arjan Spannenburg exhibits his works LOVED, RAPTURE and PERSISTANCE. They can be seen from July 1 to August 7, 2022 in the Zandvoort Museum at the exhibition Portraits with Pride.

For decades, the rainbow community had to fight to be allowed to be themselves. Still these people regularly have to overcome themselves. In recent years they have increasingly been able to be themselves and have become more visible by jumping out of their own shadows.

With Portraits with Pride the guest curators of the Zandvoort Museum, André Donker and René Zuiderveld, present a group of national and international artists. All these artists have a direct or indirect connection with this rainbow community.

LOVED

When people use words like “that’s gay” or “fag” and so many similar sexual orientation related words (whether or not as a joke), I feel like I am being chained up in a dark corner.

RAPTURE

Surrender to the one you trust. Who takes you to another place of atmosphere and existence, like a meeting halfway between earth and heaven. Blending into each other and forgetting everything around you for a moment.

PERSISTANCE

Abandoned by your family, friends and maybe even yourself by discovering that you are into boys. Don't let opinions in the world tie you down to a chair.
